What a sad ending to a wonderful persons life, thus nearly destroying the life of his loved ones....
More heart wrenching is that the story hit's home for me because I know the story, although fictional, is true.....

Before the characters were together I was the cupid that caused them to get together in real life.....My heart remains saddened daily as I think about past friends and loved ones....

I loved this book. The author's description of the characters and picturesque Maine community set the stage for riveting mystery that will hold your attention to the very last sentence. I felt as if I had grown up there and knew the characters personally. The book is a must read for any mystery fan. I am looking forward to more books by Janet Morgan.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Marvelous Mystery!, January 26, 2009

Bravo to Janet Morgan!! She has created a wonderful world of characters in her first Killdeer Farm mystery, and I am deeply anticipating the further adventures of Jessie and her friends. In Poetic Justice, the reader becomes ensconced with Jessie's determination to solve the mystery of Alfonse's killer, making the storyline a definite page-turner right up until the conclusion. This book is a must for anyone who is a big fan of mystery novels. But even if this particular genre is not normally your taste, this novel will make quick work of that!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great read!, September 12, 2008

This review is from: Poetic Justice (Hardcover)

I found Poetic Justice refreshingly charming, witty, and captivating. The protagonist is believable and down to earth. We all know the "antagonist" who leaves us feeling little compassion at his early demise. It was a relief to not encounter foul language or detailed gore at the violent crime scene. Morgan has proved that fiction can still be written to allow the reader's imagination to fill in the details. It was a great read and I can't wait for the next "Killdeer Farm" mystery. I feel as if the characters are already part of my family and I wait to learn more about "Ben" the resident ghost.

  5.0 out of 5 stars A Terrific Follow-Up! September 29, 2010

By Christine P. (Central Maine, USA)

Format:PaperbackJanet Morgan has done it again! This wonderful Maine author has successfully followed up on her 2008 "Killdeer Farm" book, Poetic Justice, with this brand-new novel. Composted Tyrant brings back Jessie Tyler and the other cast of compelling characters introduced in Poetic Justice; characters who, in their own way, get caught up in their second murder mystery in the idyllic coastal setting of Wyleyville, Maine. This book, just like its predecessor, are must-reads for any fan of the mystery genre.

Katahdin Drowning:

Reading Katahdin Drowning felt very much like going on an exciting family reunion at a familiar but not often visited location. For those who have never been to Katahdin, Janet has drawn a captivating picture of Maine's most scenic landscape. If you have been there you will want to revisit, if not you will want to load your car and head north. Hopefully you will not have to encounter an antagonist like Jessie and Jonathan meet, one who makes you almost applaud at her unfortunate end. As with Poetic Justice and Composted Tyrant, Morgan keeps the reader in suspense until almost the last page while allowing one to believe they know who did it! It was good to once again visit with Ben, Jessie's companionable home ghost. The story left me hoping that in the next encounter at Killdeer Farm Jessie and Henry will become "closer" friends? Well done, Janet. your fans await your next book.
